After listening to the first day of the arguments. I don’t think they’ll uphold Prop 8 but I think this decision will be done in a vacuum and will have no impact on other bans. Essentially this means it’ll have to go through the typical legislature/ballot measure process which is getting easier however honestly I was hoping they’d just throw out all of the bans…hoping…key word there.
Now they came up with a new thing, “QUILTBAG.” It’s apparently more inncluuuuusive than “LGBTQWERTY…” it stands for Queer, qUestioning, Intersex, Lesbian, Transexual, Bisexual, Asexual and Gay/Genderqueer.
You cannot make this up.
I think when they run out of letters, they’ll invent a numerical system of sexual orientations. And after they run out of numbers, they’ll use the wingdings font.
I’d rather not be included in any of this nonsense, thanks. Especially since half the “community” says people like me aren’t “queer enough” to be included.
Anyway, if they want to include anyone who isn’t like 90% of the rest of the planet, they should just say so instead of making a mouthful that absolutely nobody should take seriously.
The gay community has numerous times told me to go fuck myself. I’m not into the whole pride thing just because I dislike the isolation I feel it creates for me. I feel like I’m separating myself from my friends and family because I am told that the gay community is the only place I would be accepted.
That’s not true at all. I feel totally accepted by almost everyone not in the gay community that I know. In fact it’s the gay community where I feel isolated. I don’t like the LGBTQ community because I feel, based on my personal experiences, it feels a lot like high school. There are cliques which hate and fight with each other. The drama gives me a horrific headache and everyone seems to have a never ending Peter Pan complex.
This isn’t everyone in the gay community and mostly is the people in the gay “scene”. I don’t feel comfortable there and honestly I feel as though the LGBTQ community is as discriminatory and ignorant as those they fight.
This is my personal opinion based on my experiences and others have their own. I know many members of the lgbt community who are wonderful people, accepting of all kinds, and find that they are more comfortable in that setting. I simply am not.

-You’ve ever uttered the phrase “check your privilege” and not meant it sarcastically
-You have a problem with people drinking (if you don’t drink that’s fine)
-You have a problem with my family or Andrew or Courtney
-Voted for Elizabeth Warren or Barack Obama
-Hates dogs
-Considers themselves and active member in the “gay community”.
-Pro-choice
-Social Justice Warrior
-Hasn’t worked a job in their life.
